The ER team at Edinburgh Napier University play a pivotal role in developing and delivering practices to enhance our colleague experience, through supporting and providing advice to managers on complex Employee Relations cases, while ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation.
We are an ambitious team who actively encourage innovative thinking about how we can do things differently both within the ER, Policy & Advice Team and the wider People Team.
Currently, we have an opportunity for an ER & Policy Adviser to join us as part of the ER team, supporting our managers across the University in managing case activity by ensuring the consistent application of our policies and processes.
The Role:
As ER & Policy Adviser, you will have the opportunity to use your experience within an HR or People team, and your understanding of policy application, to provide professional advice to our managers and employees on the application of people policy, ensuring their understanding of current legislation, best practice approaches and people policy principles.
As someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will have remit to play an active part in building and maintaining relationships with our key stakeholders across the University, including our Trade Union Colleagues, establishing an early intervention/resolution approach to case work.
These interactions will also give you a prime opportunity to support, coach and develop managers/senior leaders on case management, to enable confident management decisions.
Having gained some experience in an HR capacity, you will be in an excellent position to ensure the effective management of allocated case activity including absence management, performance management, disciplinaries, grievances and conflict resolution, in line with current policy and legislation, seeing cases through to effective conclusion in line with best practice and legal obligations.

What we will need from you:
-Experience within an HR or People team, with an understanding of policy application.
-Experience of providing advice to managers and knowledge of case management support
-Experience of advising and coaching managers at all levels on the application of policy and people matters, including the interpretation of employment legislation.
-Experience of prioritising and managing a variedcase load.
-Knowledge of current and forthcoming employment legislation.
-Excellent oral and written communications skills and influencing skills

Salary: £30,505 - £36,924 per annum (dependent on experience)
